Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.
Animal Battle, a gorgeous series of drawings and sculptures, by Maryanna Hoggat.
From the website:
Wooden swords, flowing banners, elaborate costumes and dapper hats decorate handsome beasts of all species as they quietly stand at attention, waiting for a battle to begin.
Animal Battle is a visualization of the internal struggle to bring ideas and dreams to life against our most powerful enemies: Fear and Doubt. The Eyes + Hands army symbolizes our physical self, while Hearts + Stars represents the mental: passion, courage, & imagination. Together they lead Ideas out of our subconscious and protect them on a journey through our mind into Reality.
Crafted with an incredible attention to detail, Animal Battle is a series of illustration and sculpture with a lovely vintage appeal that captivates both grown-ups and children alike.
Nestled near the coast of Vancouver Island at the edge of the Vancouver Rainforest, Free Spirit Spheres offers nightly accommodations for the adventurous traveler in their unique and lovely hanging spheres.
From Free Spirit’s Website:
Welcome to the world of Free Spirit Spheres, set among the tall trees of the west coast rainforest of Vancouver Island, Canada. We invite you to experience a tree house for adults… 16 years and over. (liability considerations)
We are open 12 months of the year; each season providing something unique.
Built on vision and engineering these handcrafted spheres are suspended like pendants from a web of rope. They occupy a truly unique place in the world while providing a habitat for the un-tamed spirit that exists in us all.
Spheres, Eve, Eryn and Melody, are available for overnight rental. We are approximately 30km north of Parksville on Vancouver Island along the Inland Island Hwy (#19), near Qualicum Bay. The acreage is on private property close to Horne Lake Caves, Georgia Strait and Mount Washington. Come experience an enchanted coastal rain forest…. your comfortable, gently swaying, restful sphere awaits.
This is definitely on my list of places to visit!
